Telemedicine Services

Psychiatric Telemedicine Assessments:

Since 2013, Vector Medical has been a leader in telemedicine-based psychiatric services for employers and unions across Canada. Due to COVID-19, Case Managers (CM) of Essential Workplaces are seeing significant increases in employee mental fitness-for-duty concerns.

In response, Vector Medical has developed a HIPAA/PHIPA-compliant telemedicine solution that provides Essential Workers with expedited access to psychiatric / addiction medicine assessments.

Quick, Accessible Process

● Workers video-link with a psychiatrist from home or a local health clinic (if available)
● Psychiatrist conducts 45-minute assessment interview
● Vector submits Summary Report to Case Manager within 48 hours
● Report includes:
● Fitness-for-Duty Status
● Diagnosis (if applicable)
● Treatment Recommendations (pharmacological and psychological)

Specialist Advice for General Practitioners / Family Physicians

The psychiatrist’s Summary Report outlines an individualized treatment strategy for consideration by the worker’s treating physician. Upon receiving the report from Vector, Case

Managers are strongly encouraged to:
● Submit the report directly to the worker’s GP / FP
● Instruct the worker to see their GP / FP via telemedicine as soon as possible
● Follow up with the worker to track their progress

Please Note:

This service is meant to advise over-burdened Family Physicians / General Practitioners on effective treatment strategies; not to privatize psychiatric treatment. Our Assessing Psychiatrists act as independent experts and do not form doctor-patient relationships with workers who
access this service.
